Venues

Go big or go cozy; Acapulco has the venue to match the meeting

The movers and shakers in Acapulco know that constant reinvention is the only way to maintain a top-of-the-game presence in the meetings and convention market. To that end, the destination has welcomed new meetings venues in the last year, with a special focus on the up-and-coming Diamante Zone.

The Expo at Mundo Imperial meeting and convention center is Acapulco’s newest meetings venue. Located in the exclusive Diamante Zone, the Expo at Mundo Imperial has 355,000 square feet of meeting and exhibit space, 43 breakout rooms, and the largest ballroom in Mexico. In 2013, the Mundo Imperial mega-complex will open the Resort at Mundo Imperial hotel in addition to the existing Expo at Mundo Imperial meeting and convention center and the Forum at Mundo Imperial theatre.

The Diamante Exhibition Center has 20,000 square feet of exhibition space with additional space to host conferences and events with a maximum capacity of 4,300 people. The center is located at the Plaza Las Fuentes within the Fairmont Acapulco Princess resort. A nice perk are the views from the new Exhibit Hall, which look out on lush gardens and fountains while also providing ocean views.

With an eye to combining business with pleasure, the Acapulco Convention Center hosted the Miss Universe Pageant back in 1978.

The Acapulco International Convention Center is a linch pin when it comes to Acapulco’s meetings and conventions market, being the host venue for the annual Acapulco Festival and was the home of Tianguis Turistico for 36 years. The center can accommodate 15,000 people and sports an enclosed 1,200-seat theater with state-of-the-art theatrical technology. One of its most famous halls is the 68,000 square feet Salón Teotihuacan, a stunning room free of columns and with a 120-foot-high ceiling.

Both President Ronald Reagan and black civil rights leader Jesse Jackson presented their views to the Young Presidents’ Organization’s convention at the Acapulco Princess hotel.

The Grand Hotel Acapulco & Convention Center on Acapulco Bay has 14 meeting rooms. The El Cabaret Ballroom can accommodate up to 900 guests in theatre-style seating and up to 600 guests for a themed banquet.

Acapulco also has unique venues for group events, including the Fort of San Diego, overlooking the Bay of Santa Lucia. For a dash of retro-Acapulco charm, book one of the beautiful villas in the Las Brisas area of the Diamante District, perfect for a stylish sit down dinner or cocktail party.
